U.S. copyright law provides copyright protection for cartoons that are considered to be works of the visual arts. A cartoon is a simple drawing showing the features of its subjects in a humorously exaggerated way, especially a satirical one in a newspaper or magazine about politics or events in the news.
A copyright is a form of intellectual property law that protects original works including literary, dramatic, musical, and artistic works, such as poetry, novels, movies, songs, computer software, artwork, drawings, and architecture, among others.
