US Gold Card Application Process
The Gold Card program offers a pathway for successful entrepreneurs, investors, and business leaders to obtain U.S. residency. Both individuals and corporate sponsors can initiate the process through the official portal at trumpcard.gov.
Individual Application Process
For individuals seeking the Gold Card, the process is streamlined into three primary phases:
Step 1: Registration and Application Fees
To begin, applicants must register and pay a nonrefundable application fee of $15,000 per person (including spouse and children) at trumpcard.gov. Once payment is confirmed and USCIS accepts the submission, applicants are eligible to file Form I-140G.
Step 2: Filing Form I-140G
Once the fee is received, the visa adjudication process begins. Applicants must promptly submit all required documents via Form I-140G (filed online via myUSCIS). There is currently no paper filing or mail-in option available for this program.
Following the submission, all applicants must undergo a comprehensive background check and vetting process.
Step 3: Required Gift Payment
After successful vetting and approval, the applicant is required to make a $1 million gift to the United States for each person requesting a card.
The donation amounts vary based on the type of sponsorship:
| Applicant Type | Donation Amount (per person) | Total for Family of 4 |
|---|---|---|
| Individual | $1 Million per person | $4 Million (+$60,000 fees) |
| Corporate Sponsor | $2 Million (Principal) + $1 Million (per derivative) | $5 Million (+$60,000 fees) |
Step 4: Biometrics and Interviews
Applicants are required to attend an in-person interview at a US Consulate in their country of residence or citizenship. You will be instructed to schedule an appointment at a local U.S. Embassy or Consulate.
Applicants may be required to provide biometrics (fingerprints/photos). If in the U.S., you will receive a notice by mail; if abroad, you must contact a U.S. Embassy or Consulate.
Corporate Application Process
Step 1: Registration
To begin, corporate sponsors must register and pay a nonrefundable $15,000 processing fee for each employee they wish to sposor at trumpcard.gov. Applications for multiple employees can be submitted at once.
Step 2: Filing Form I-140G
Once the fee is received corporate sponsors must file Form I-140G (filed online via myUSCIS) together with all required documents. There is currently no paper filing or mail-in option available for this program.
Step 3: Approval & Gift
Upon an employee’s successful vetting, the company must make a $2 million gift per employee (for the principal applicant requesting a Gold Card) and $1 million for each of employee’s derivative (spouse and unmarried children under 21).
Key Corporate Advantage: Gift Portability
A key advantage of the Gold Card corporate program is the flexibility of the $2 million contribution:
- Transferability: If a company ceases sponsoring an employee, they can transfer the original $2 million gift to a new employee’s application.
- Cost Efficiency: This allows the corporation to sponsor a new individual without making a second $2 million contribution.
- Ongoing Fees: The Corporate Gold Card is subject to a small annual maintenance fee (typically 1%) and a transfer fee (typically 5%) when reassigning the sponsorship to a new individual.
Summary of Gold Card Costs
| Fee Type | Individual Filer | Corporate Sponsor |
|---|---|---|
| Processing Fee | $15,000 (per person) | $15,000 (per employee) |
| Required Gift | $1 million (per person) | $2 million (per employee) |
| Annual Maintenance | N/A | ~1% of gift amount |
| Tramnsfer Fee | N/A | ~5% per reassignment |
