Successful B2 visa status extension! We recently had a B2 Visa Status Extension Approved by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) for touristic purposes. In this case, the I-539 extension of B2 status was approved without a Request for Further Evidence (RFE). The extension of B2 status was approved for the entire period requested. The B-2 visa extension was filed with USCIS before the applicant’s I-94 B2 status expired. The overall processing time for the B2 Extension of Status from the time it was submitted and until it was successfully approved by USCIS was approximately 12 months.
If you are in the United States on a B1/B2 visa or you are a Canadian travelling to the United States in B1/B2 status and you want to extend your stay, then you need to request an extension of your B1 or B2 visa status with USCIS before your current B1/B2 status recorded on your I-94 record expires. Extensions of B1 and B2 status are not easily granted by USCIS.
