The E-2 visa is a nonimmigrant visa for investors and entrepreneurs who make a substantial investment in a business in the United States. To qualify for an E2 visa, an individual can invest in starting a new business, purchase an existing business or otherwise make a substantial investment in an existing US business. The E-2 visa allows you to live and the work in United States and develop the business. You can bring your spouse and children under the age of 21 to live in the US on an E-2 visa. Your spouse can work in the United States.
Currently, the E-2 visa for US is available for 81 countries. Some countries do not have an E-2 treaty with the United States, including countries that have close relations with US such as Greece or Portugal. Other countries that do not have an E-2 visa treaty are China, Russia, India, Brazil, Peru, South Africa, Nigeria and many more.

Grenada is one of the countries that has both an E-2 visa treaty with the US and a Citizenship by Investment Program. The Grenada Citizenship by Investment Program is relatively fast and affordable.
The island country of Grenada, located in the eastern Caribbean signed an E-2 treaty with the US in March 1989.
The E-2 treaty allows citizens of Grenada who make a substantial investment in an active US business to obtain an E-2 Visa for themselves and their immediate family members.
The E-2 Visa for citizens of Grenada is valid for maximum 5 years.

4. How to get Grenada Citizenship by Investment?
The Grenada Citizenship by Investment Program allows individuals who either invest in real estate or contribute to Grenada’s National Transformation Fund to obtain Grenada citizenship.
To get Grenada Citizenship by Investment you have two options:
- Option 1: Donation to Grenada’s National Transformation Fund starting at $150,000, or
- Option 2: Investment in Grenada real estate starting at $220,000
Option 1: Donation to Grenada’s National Transformation Fund
Contribution to the National Transformation Fund (NTF) is non-refundable.
The donation amount varies based on the number of dependents included in the main applicant’s application.
To qualify for Grenada Citizenship by Investment via donation to the National Transformation Fund the required investment and processing fee is:
- Contribution for one investor, no family members -$150,000
- Contribution for a family of up to 4 – $200,000
- Contribution for a family of 5 or more – $200,000 for first 4 family members + $25,000 per additional family member
- Application Fee – $1,500 per person
- Due Diligence Fee – $5,000 per person; no fee for persons under 16 years old
- Processing Fee – $1,500 per person; $500 for persons under 17 years old
Option 2: Investment in Grenada real estate
Regarding investment in real estate in Grenada, the investor has the option to either purchase real estate in a government approved project or to purchase shares in a government approved investment company that is developing a real estate project such as a hotel or a marina.
All real estate options are approved by the government.
You must keep your investment in real estate for 5 years after you receive your Grenada Citizenship.
To qualify for Grenada Citizenship by Investment via investment in real estate the fees are:
Real Estate Option A
- Investment – $220,000 for shares in investment company
- Government Fee – $50,000 for first 4 family members + $25,000 per additional family member
Real Estate Option B
- Investment in real estate – $350,000
- Government Fee – $50,000 for first 4 family members + $25,000 per additional family member
- Application Fee – $1,500 per person
- Due Diligence Fee – $5,000 per person; no fee for persons under 16 years old
- Processing Fee – $1,500 per person; $500 for persons under 17 years old
5. Application process for Grenada Citizenship by Investment
The steps you need to take to obtain the Grenada Citizenship by Investment are:
- Choose your preferred investment option
To obtain Grenada citizenship by investment you can make a government donation or invest in real estate as discussed above.
- Prepare documents
Experienced Grenada lawyers and advisers collect and check all your documents for compliance and ensure all requirements for Grenada citizenship by investment are met.
- Submit application for Grenada Citizenship
Your complete application is submitted to the Government via an authorized local agent, as required by law.
- Processing Grenada Citizenship application.
The Grenada government vets each citizenship application. The government requires that applicants get fingerprinted to conduct a background check. The fingerprinting requirement can be done by any authorized authority in the investor’s country of residence.
You must pass the due diligence process and not be associated with criminal activity or terrorism. You have to be of good moral character and have a good health.

- Get Grenada passport
After you complete the investment your Grenada citizenship certificate is issued and your passport application is submitted.
It is not mandatory for you to visit Grenada to get the Grenada citizenship. The Grenada passport can be sent to your preferred address.
6. Grenada Citizenship by Investment Processing Time
The processing time to obtain Grenada citizenship through investment is 1 to 6 months from start to finish.
7. Grenada Citizenship for Indians
Citizens of India are eligible to obtain a Grenada citizenship through investment.
For Indian citizens who wish to apply for permanent residence in the US and get a green card, Grenada citizenship can be very beneficial. In particular, Indian citizens have to wait years to receive the green card because the US limits how many people from a given country can obtain the green card each year.
Applying with a Grenada passport, Indian citizen can save many years of waiting for their US green card.
8. How to apply for E-2 visa from Grenada?
You must first make the substantial investment in a US business by acquiring an existing business or starting a new business.
After the investment is made and the applicant’s immigration lawyer has prepared the petition with supporting documents, the E-2 application is sent to a US consulate.
The applicant must submit an online for DS-160 and pay for a visa interview.
Following a review of the E-2 visa package, the applicant is invited for an interview.
Citizens of Grenada can apply for E-2 visa interview at the U.S. Embassy in Bridgetown, Barbados. Alternatively, a Grenada citizen who does not live in Grenada can apply at another US consulate that processes E-2 visa applications for third party nationals.
